TALK TO AN EXPERT

Reassurance, not pressure. Answers, not sales.

We know that for many people, writing an Islamic Will raises a lot of questions — both practical and spiritual.

Here are some of the most common ones. If you’re unsure about anything, you are welcome to contact us directly for a free, confidential chat.

Is it really fard (obligatory) to write a Will in Islam?

    Yes. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“It is not permissible for any Muslim who has something to will to stay for two nights without having his Will written.”

    (Sahih al-Bukhari, 2738)

Writing a Will ensures that your wealth is distributed according to Allah’s guidance — not the state’s. It also protects your family from confusion or dispute after you’re gone.

What does an Islamic Will need to include?

    A proper Islamic Will should:

    • Clearly state your identity and intentions
    • Appoint trusted executors and guardians (if applicable)
    • Allocate your estate according to Shariah inheritance rules (faraid)
    • Allow for up to one-third of your wealth to be given to charity or non-heirs
    • Comply with UK legal requirements so that it is recognised in court

We help you cover all of this, step by step.

Can I include charity or sadaqah in my Will?

Yes. Islam allows up to one-third of your estate to be distributed outside the fixed shares — for example, to a charity or a cause close to your heart.

This is a powerful way to leave behind sadaqah jariyah (ongoing reward) that continues after your death.

What if I don’t know where to start?

That’s very common - and exactly why we offer a free, no-pressure call.

We’ll walk you through what’s required and how it all works, in plain language, at your own pace.

Will my Will be legally valid in the UK?

Yes, your Will will be fully compliant with UK law — as long as it’s signed and witnessed correctly. We help you do this properly.

Every Will we handle is reviewed or overseen by qualified UK solicitors, so you can be confident it will stand up in court if needed.

What if my family situation is complicated?

Don’t worry. Many families have complexities — stepchildren, second marriages, overseas property, or business ownership.

We’ll guide you through your options and, where needed, involve our legal partners at Blakewater Solicitors, who specialise in Islamic and estate law.

Can I speak to someone before deciding?

Absolutely. In fact, we encourage it. Most people don’t feel ready to go straight to a form or payment — and we respect that.

What happens if I die without a Will?

    Without a valid Will:

    • Your estate will be distributed according to UK intestacy law - not Islamic law
    • The process will likely be longer, more expensive, and more stressful for your loved ones
    • The courts may appoint people you wouldn’t have chosen as guardians or executors
    • Family disputes are more likely, especially in blended families or where expectations differ

It’s a difficult subject, but writing a Will now can protect your family from much greater hardship later.

Can I change my Will later?

Yes. We understand that circumstances change, your family grows, assets shift, priorities evolve.

You can update or rewrite your Will at any time. We’ll guide you on when and how to do it properly, so that your Will remains valid and up to date.

I want to be sure my Will is Islamically correct. Who checks it?

Every Will we help prepare follows the principles of Shariah inheritance (faraid) and is either:

    • Based on approved Islamic templates
    • Reviewed by experienced solicitors with an understanding of Islamic law
    • Offered with optional scholar review if you require it

We take the amanah (trust) of this work seriously. If something falls outside our scope, we’ll tell you — and point you in the right direction.

Do you offer this service for sisters on their own?

Yes, many of our clients are sisters, widows, or single mothers who want to ensure their affairs are in order.

Our team is respectful, confidential, and here to serve with dignity and without judgement.

I need something done urgently. Can you help?

Yes. In urgent cases (e.g. travel, illness, hospitalisation), we can prioritise and fast-track your Will. Please get in touch as soon as possible so we can support you accordingly.

I still have questions. What should I do?

    That’s what we’re here for.

You can book a free call, message us, or email - whatever you’re most comfortable with. There’s no pressure to commit. We’re simply here to help you take this vital step with clarity and confidence when the time is right.
